Mind has expressed disappointment at a new report from the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities. CEO of Mind, Paul Farmer, has been quoted saying:

“The conclusions of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities report published today are disappointing on mental health. The report highlights the disparities in mental health care and the impact experiencing racism has on mental health but does not acknowledge the clear evidence that people from racialized communities within the mental health system are treated differently to others because of their ethnic identity.

"The Independent Review of the Mental Health Act in 2019 as well as many working within services acknowledge this as institutional and structural racism that requires a sustained and concerted effort to dismantle. The Commission’s recommendations on mental health fall far short of the wholesale changes which most in the sector recognise as essential.”
