CAPITAL, the acronym for Clients And Professionals In Training And Learning aspires to provide social inclusion to people who have or are suffering from mental distress at varying levels, from all walks of life. We have a “self-referral” system where anyone who has or is using mental health services in West Sussex may join our membership; all services provided are free to adults over 18, there is no upper age limit.
We are mental health charity run by and for members with lived experience of mental health issues. Our service provision aims to advance the education of our members together with the general public thus enabling the voice of our membership to be heard, facilitate positive change and enhance individual quality of life.

Mind in Brighton and Hove offers peer mentoring support in Crawley and Horsham, as well as community advocacy and Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) services across West Sussex. Our advocacy services take action to help you say what you want to say, secure your rights, make your views and wishes heard, and support you to obtain the services that you need. IMHA services are available to those who have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Services provided by an alliance of organisations working together for better mental health and wellbeing in Steyning and the surrounding area of Chanctonbury. When we receive your referral (via phone/email) we will call you to arrange a suitable time and date for your initial discussion. We’ll explain what our current service offer is/what support we’re able to provide, the purpose of the initial discussion and what will be covered during the conversation. We’ll let you know the name of the recovery worker who will call you to complete the initial discussion, and how to contact us should you need to rearrange or have any questions.
If you’d prefer your initial discussion to be completed via video call, we can arrange a scheduled appointment on Zoom or Attend Anywhere.
We are not currently offering face to face discussions unless you are unable to use the phone or video call options. If you do require the discussion to be conducted in person then we will invite you to attend our office in Chichester, however we will need to speak with you via phone prior to the meeting to explain the covid-19 protection and safety measures that we have in place and to check on the day that it is appropriate for the meeting to go ahead in the office.

Although the majority of ongoing support is carried out remotely via telephone, Zoom or Attend Anywhere, we are offering limited face to face support for those with an urgent need which is agreed on an individual basis and through discussion with the Service Manager.

Providing an Asian Mental Health Helpline across West Sussex.
The Sahayak Asian Mental Health Helpline offers a culturally sensitive listening and information service for anyone affected by mental health issues - whether they are service users, carers or friends, and people affected by domestic abuse.
Callers may speak to us in Asian languages (Gujarati, Punjabi, Hindu, and Urdu) or English.
When you call the helpline you can expect to be listened to, treated with dignity and respect, given emotional support and signposted to useful sources of information.
Calls to our number are free and will not show up on your bill.

Providing peer support and outreach services for adults over 18 with mental health support problems who are registered with a GP and/or are a resident in Chichester or Horsham.
Our long- and short-term Horsham Outreach Community Based Support service works with individuals affected by mental ill health already living in their own homes to receive assistance with day-to-day tasks and activities, such as budgeting finances or doing the weekly food shop.

Offering individual tailored support to people wishing to find employment or retain support with their existing job.
Southdown Supported Employment is for adults who have mental health support needs to secure employment or support to retain their existing employment. The service provides free, independent, and confidential support. Sessions are held 1:1 with the Pathfinder Employment Specialist and tailored to individual goals. Appointments take place in the community, for example at a local cafe, with a focus on securing paid employment and the steps that will be needed to get there.

Supporting and empowering homeless and vulnerable people to achieve sustainable independence and wellbeing.
Stonepillow provides assessment and referral into one of our hostels/supported accommodation, support for a variety of issues including substance misuse and mental health, as well as access to a GP and training opportunities. Alongside our hostels and hubs in Chichester and Bognor Regis, our recovery service, supported accommodation and rough sleeper team, our clients and the long-term unemployed receive training in restoration work, furniture repair and office skills through our social enterprise project, Stonepillow Restore.

Pathfinder clinical service provided by nurses and occupational therapists.
The clinical service offers short term input to support people in transition from Sussex Partnership teams and link them to the wider Pathfinder alliance services and other local support as required. They also provide accessible preventative support for people engaged with Pathfinder services with links to Sussex Partnership teams if needed.
Clinicians offer short term individual and/or group work sessions. Groups are co-produced and delivered by Pathfinder clinical staff, Peer Support Workers and Pathfinder partners.
Referrals for the transition service are via SPFT teams within assessment and treatment services only. Referrals for the preventative service are made via staff members within Pathfinder voluntary sector services.

Services include one to one support including goal setting and progress reviews, focused learning and development workshops to help improve mental and physical well-being and support personal development, access to a peer mentor, and group sessions to socialise with others.
There is a young people's service in Shoreham, Southwick, Lancing, Worthing, Steyning, Storrington, Pulborough, Henfield, Littlehampton, Bognor, Chichester and Midhurst areas, as well as a service for older people in the Bognor, Chichester and Bognor areas.
West Sussex Mind’s help point is the first point of contact for anyone looking for support. The team listens to people, talks through their needs and discusses options. These may include passing on details to the mental health recovery team, offering well-being advice, signposting to self-help videos and information, talking through a diagnosis, and giving information about treatments or support options available in the community.
